Our History:
1978 - Manders Merighi Associates was established when David G. Manders, AIA and Lawrence J. Merighi, AIA left Architects II to establish their own firm. They signed 41 client projects in that first year, focused primarily of the residential market. They completed several larger projects including church, school, and industrial / larger retail spaces.
1979 - 1982 - M/MA continues to average approximately 50 client projects per year, with projects increasing in size and scope. Office and Medical office spaces and larger industrial work are added as are multi-unit residential and condominium projects.
1983 - M/MA moves into new office space in building #3 at 1138 East Chestnut Ave.
1983 - 1993 - Over a ten year period, M/MA sees growth in both project size and scope, averaging 90 to 100 client projects per year. Market specialties in industrial, manufacturing, food processing, educational and medical facilities are well established during this time. The firm continues to emphasize personal service to their clients and is rewarded with numerous projects from repeat clients. Roughly half of the projects completed by 1990 are for institutional, educational, commercial or municipal agencies - and most are repeat clients.
1994 - 1999 - The Industrial and Educational projects continue to grow in size and scope. Building on almost twenty-years with many of the same clients, the work completed during this period reflects specializations in design-build, real estate and property development, unlimited area industrial, police and fire facilities, medical support and surgical facilities and architect of record work for several school districts. The firm averages approx. 110 - 120 client projects per year.
2000-2008 - During this eight year period, M/MA sees a reduction in client projects per year but the size and scope of the projects increases dramatically. M/MA completes a number of large educational projects for the State of New Jersey primarily for local school districts, leveraging twenty-five years of experience for area school districts as Architect of Record. Industrial, commercial, and office/medical projects continue. Residential work during this period is limited primarily to custom and specialty residential.
2008 - Project Architects Ronald Portadin, AIA and Peter Farrell, AIA, each with over a decade of experience with the firm, are invited to form a new partnership.
2009 - As of January 1, 2009 M/MA officially becomes Manders Merighi Portadin Farrell Architects, LLC. The new name is chosen to recognize the contributions of the new partners, but also to assure existing clients that they will receive the same level of professional attention to their needs that they have come to expect over the past thirty years.
2010 - The firm presently employs a staff of 9. Over the past five years, the firm has designed over 300 projects with a combined value of over 250 million dollars and has generated gross revenues in excess of 13 million dollars.
